How it works
We run two types of event regularly: JamSocial Live Performance Workshops (see below) and Band Builder Courses. Click here to find out more about Band Builder Courses.
Live Performance Workshop
The workshop follows the format of a jam session, but with experienced instrument tutors on hand to give encouragement and guidance if the idea of performing with other musicians is daunting, and to give advice on the many aspects of performance.
Book your place
There are an allocated number of tickets for each instument – Buy a ticket
- Guitar (acoustic or electric)
- Other instruments
Equipment is provided. – If you want to bring your own plectrum, drum sticks, guitar or microphone, that’s fine (but don’t turn up with a full drum kit or stack of amps!)
The tutors cover the following instruments: Drums, Guitar (acoustic and electric), Bass, Vocals, Keyboards, Percussion. Other instrumentalists are welcome to join in the jam, although the band workshop will focus mainly on the core ‘rock band’ instruments and how they interact in a performance setting.
Drummers learning drums at Elephant Drums and guitarists, bassists, singers and keyboard players studying with the partner tutors need to sign up to take part in JamSocial via their tutor.
JamSocial is intended for beginner / novice / intermediate musicians who want to take their playing to the next level and break down the barriers to joining a band. Playing with other musicians is a vital part of learning an instrument.
Additional private tuition sessions are available – ideal for beginners or those in need of refreshing a few technical skills in advance of the JamSocial workshop itself.
Private Lessons Package
Blow away any nerves about what you might have to play on the day by booking up some private lessons with our tutors.
If you already have lessons you can work on the songs for JamSocial with your existing tutor. Ask your tutor to contact us for details of the material we’ll be covering.
Or, if you’re self-taught, just contact us to have the workshop material sent directly to you.
JamSocial is not a replacement for private tuition, but it is a great supplement. You can work with your tutor in advance of the workshop to prepare material to perform at JamSocial. This helps add purpose and direction to lessons and provides a ‘real’ musical outcome. JamSocial provides the equipment, environment and atmosphere for successfully breaking down the barriers to performing on stage and playing in a band.
